The knowledgeable Financial Aid Administrators at FTC are happy to sit down one-on-one with you to go through all of your financial options. There are so many Financial Aid options and variables, it really pays to sit down with an experienced professional and explore your opportunities.

Getting started with Your Free Application for Federal Student Aid: FAFSA

Prospective students may secure an application to participate in Federal Student Aid programs from the Student Financial Aid department of the Institute or from a high school counsellor. The Institute will process the application electronically. The central processor will calculate the Expected Family Contribution according to the Federal Needs Analysis. All information submitted to the central processor is subject to various edits. Students also have the option of filing the application on their own by using FAFSA on the Internet, or mailing the application via regular mail.

Students have the option to obtain their own PIN and file the application on their own by using the U.S. Department of Education FREE Application for Federal Student Aid Web Site or mailing the application via regular mail.

Federal and State Grants

These are Federal and State Aid programs designed to provide financial assistance to those students who have demonstrated financial need. These funds are considered "gift aid" because they do not have to be repaid. Some examples of Federal and State Grants:

Pell Grant (formerly Basic Educational Opportunity Grant)

FSEOG - Federal Student Education Opportunity Grant

FSAG - Florida Student Assistance Grant

ACG - Academic Competiveness Grant

FWS - Federal Work Study

Imagine America High School Scholarship Opportunity

Imagine America is one of the few scholarship programs available to high school seniors interested in a career college education. Through this innovative and far-reaching program, three graduating seniors from every high school in the United States and Puerto Rico each year are eligible to receive a $1,000 Imagine America scholarship.

Any high school senior who is planning on attending a participating career school or college is eligible for the Imagine America scholarship. Students must meet standard admissions requirements and other guidelines including:

  1. High school GPA of 2.5 or greater (on a 4.0 scale);
  2. Financial need;
  3. Demonstrated voluntary community service during their senior year; and
  4. Likelihood of successfully completing post-secondary education.

Financial Assistance in the form of loans and grants is available to qualified students. There are also scholarship opportunities. The College makes every possible effort to aid those students who need financial assistance in order to complete their college programs. Applicants in need should apply for financial assistance at the same time they apply for admission to Florida Technical College.

Students seeking financial assistance through any of the available programs should request information and appropriate financial aid counselling from FTC. The Financial Aid Administrator will be pleased to assist in completing and submitting all forms to the appropriate agency/lender. The student is responsible for providing accurate information. Financial aid consists of Grants, Scholarships and Loans. Please remember that loans must be repaid and should not be considered entitlements.

There is a wide variety of scholarship opportunities available, all with different criteria.
