Florida Technical College – Cutler Bay’s Grand Opening. VP of Sales and Marketing Michael Zuccheri addressing the attendees of the grand opening ceremony.

Florida Technical College opened its FTC South Miami campus to serve the Miami, FL area in January 2015. For some of our students that live in Miami, but work near Pembroke Pines or Hollywood will find the location to be very convenient. Florida Technical College has been changing lives for over 30 years. We provide hands-on career training with flexible class options to meet almost any hectic schedule. We understand and recognize our students are all busy with their families, work and a wide variety of other responsibilities. That’s why we offer day and evening classes.

We offer small class sizes for you to receive individualized attention!

Our students typically take only one course per month. You can choose the schedule that best fits your lifestyle. This focused approach helps students turn theory into practice and fosters better learning by allowing students to concentrate on just one subject with one faculty member at a time.

What are the Benefits of Attending a Technical College in Miami?

There are many benefits to attending a technical college in Miami. From a fast start to real world experience and everything in between, getting a technical diploma or degree can help you fulfill your career dreams.

Benefit #1: Accelerated Career Focus

At a technical college, you jump right into the career and start learning your vocation from day one. By attending full time, you can complete your program in months rather than years. If you have other responsibilities that stop you from going to a 4-year college, than a technical college may be the best option.

Benefit #2: Industry Experienced Instructors

Your instructors have recent industry experience and worked in the vocation that you are training for. They will also be able to offer you one-on-one attention, answering all your questions you might have along the way.

Benefit #3: Real World Experience

During a technical program, you get hands-on practice in real workplaces and labs. In culinary arts, you work in a real school run kitchen. As an HVAC technician or electrician, you spend a lot of your time in a workshop assessing, repairing and replacing components and systems. As a hairdresser or barber, you will get experience working in a student run salon. The experience is great so when you go to apply for a new job, you already have training that your employer doesn’t have to pay for.

Benefit #4: Small Class Sizes

Smaller class sizes offer dedicated instruction throughout the entire program. You won’t sit in an auditorium size classroom and get lost in the sea of students. You will also make life-long relationships with fellow classmates.

Benefit #5: Career Services

At most technical colleges, career services prepare you for the job market with mock interviews, resume writing and job fairs. The career services department will also have strong ties to the community and will hear about many of the openings before the public. Although the technical college can’t guarantee employment after graduation, they are by your side for the life of your career, helping you network and find jobs that meet your passion.

Benefit #6: Financial Aid

Financial aid packages are available for those that qualify. From grants and scholarships to federal student aid and student loans. The financial aid counselor will help you fill out your FAFSA form, so you are eligible for federal student aid.

How Technical College Prepares You for a Career

Technical colleges are places where you can pick up one specific trade. Since you’re focusing on that one thing, you have the opportunity to master it. The courses are focused and efficient. The goal is to teach you everything you need to know, and nothing you don’t need to know, in the shortest time frame possible. By the end of the program, you will be confident in your next career steps.
