What Will I Learn During the Medical Billing & Coding Program?

You will learn many clinical and clerical aspects of a medical office or facility, particularly in regard to medical coding. Classes focus on ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS II coding systems that will prepare you to manage medical databases and patient’s electronic health records (EHR). You will learn about anatomy and physiology medical terminology. Terminology includes the levels of body organization, basic components, human body structure, functions and diseases, and other medical terms. One of the classes in this program focuses on medical billing and insurance, governmental and private third-party payers, worker’s compensation and disability coverage. Another class teaches you about medical office procedure, filing, handling mail and preparing budgets. You will also learn the important of workplace ethics and effective communication.
