Construction Trades
Florida Technical College has been offering education and training for trade careers for more than 30 years. In our electrical, welding, HVAC/R with PLC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration with PLC diploma) programs, you will learn the skills necessary to safely and accurately diagnose situations, compute the necessary calculations, and learn the skills needed for successful employment.

Electrical
The Electrical Diploma Program provides students with technical skills and practical knowledge, as well as the skills needed to perform installation tasks, provide service, and troubleshoot and repair residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems. Graduates from this program will be able to fill positions such as an electrician’s helper in residential and construction firms in the electrical trade industry.
HVAC/R with PLC
The HVAC/R with PLC Diploma Program offers the student the technical and practical knowledge and skills to perform installation tasks, and service and repairs in heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning situations. Our HVAC school program also incorporates a computer component, programmable logic controller (PLC). Graduates from this program will be able to fill positions such as refrigeration technician in manufacturing, construction firms, and refrigeration and air conditioning companies, as well as own their own business.
Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R)
The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Diploma Program prepares students with the knowledge and necessary skills to develop efficient and safety-minded technicians that will be able to fill an entry level position in the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning field. In addition, they will acquire the necessary skills, to perform installation tasks, service, and repairs for commercial and residential heating, refrigeration, and air conditioning equipment.
Welding
The Welding Diploma Program offers the technical and practical knowledge needed to interpret manufacturing drawings and construction blueprints, calculate measures, as well as bend, cut, grind, and weld ferrous and nonferrous metals. Students will learn shield metal arc, gas-metal arc, flux core arc, gas-tungsten arc, and pipe welding. The welding program is classroom-based, with a combination of lecture and lab. The program will prepare students for entry-level employment in the field of welding. Graduates from this program will be able to fill positions such as a welding helper in residential and construction firms in the electrical trade industry.
