Posted on April 7th, 2016 by Florida Technical College

The Hottest Hair Trends for Summer 2016 If you’ve been thinking about signing up for FTC’s Cosmetology Diploma Program, you are someone who knows hair, makeup, and style. You probably keep up with all the trends and latest fads, right? If you’re getting into this great career, keeping up is a must. These things change quickly. To help you out, here are some of the hottest hair trends for Summer 2016: Super straight and sleek. Straight isn’t usually easy to achieve, which is good for future stylists. A big trend for the upcoming summer is to go perfectly straight and sleek. All the ladies who want to achieve this look will need a good hair stylist to get it right. Think long, flat, with a severe part down the middle or tied back into a sleek pony. Dip-dye ends. Wild colors have been all the rage in hair for a few years now. We have even seen multi-hued hair and dye jobs that mimic an ombre effect. Now, the newest trend is to just die the ends of your hair, any color you want. Go for a few inches of bright pink or just a quick dip in baby blue for blondes.   Pigtails and braids. Maybe it’s the carefree attitude of summer, but the classic kids’ style of pigtails is back for adults. Any woman can work it if you do it right. That means pairing this childlike hairstyle with more mature accessories. Braided pigtails are especially fun and easy to do for summer.   Simple buns. Talk about the ultimate in easy styling. The messy bun is back and all it takes to achieve is a quick twist of the hair and a few pins to hold it in place. A lot of women will be embracing this go-to trend this summer. Any age, any color. While we have mostly seen young fashion trendsetters take on this daring look with blue, lilac, and even silver locks, the trend is now extending to more mature women. You’re never too old to have fun with your hair. Pink, blue, purple, bright orange, nothing is off limits. FTC has a thriving cosmetology department where you can learn all the latest beauty secrets. If you love beauty and cosmetics, why not work in what you love? Maybe YOU can set the trend for next season!   RELATED ARTICLES: Hair Coloring Technique- Balayage Cosmetology Schools in Florida: Hair Care and More

5 Hot Makeup Trends for Spring 2016

Posted on April 2nd, 2016 by Florida Technical College

5 Hot Makeup Trends for Spring 2016 The arrival of spring means more than just warmer weather; it also means new trends in beauty. If you’re a makeup fanatic, you are going to love the fun new ideas for spring 2016, straight from the runways. As someone who loves makeup and style, why not use your talents in a new career? With a diploma from Florida Technical College’s esthetics program, you could become a professional makeup artist. Here are five of the coolest trends for this spring, which you can learn how to apply with the right training:   1. Glitter, glitter everywhere. Nothing about this spring’s makeup trends are subtle, and glitter is not just for little girls anymore. The runways for this season were covered in glittery makeup and glitter as makeup. For a toned down version, try a glitter eyeshadow or a shimmery, all-over face powder to give just a hint of glitter and sparkle.   2. Fun French manicures. A manicure is like makeup for your fingertips. A French manicure is a classic, but can also be a little boring and conservative. Think fun and festive for this spring. French manicures have gotten a makeover with tips done in bright colors, metallic, and even glitter. You can even add nail art to the neutral base of a French manicure to make it more fun and trendy.   3. Bright blue for eyes. For anyone who missed this favorite eye shadow shade of the 1980s, it’s back. For spring this year, bright blue hues, applied thickly, are becoming all the rage. From rich cobalt blue and teal eye shadows to shimmering royal blue liner, blues that catch attention are big right now. To go bold, try a bright blue shadow, but for a more subtle take try navy eyeliner.   4. Outlandish eyelashes. Models on the runway this spring were sporting some wild eyelashes. Some were super think, while others were extra-long. Some faux lashes were even trimmed into unique shapes or came in bright colors, especially blue. You can try this trend without looking too outrageous by trying slightly longer lashes or go bold with colored lashes with toned down shadow and liner. 5. Bronze skin. With warmer weather and sunny skies, tanned skin is always popular. This spring, look for a light touch. A light bronzer on the places the sun naturally touches is just perfect. Another technique seen on the runways this season has been a mix of shimmery bronzer with face cream for an all over, subtle glow. Makeup this spring is all about having fun and taking risks. Why not do the same for your career? If you love makeup and have an eye for trends, you could be a makeup artist or esthetician. At FTC, you can earn a diploma in esthetics that will train you for any career in beauty, from working in a salon or spa to being a freelance makeup artist. Choose from two convenient Florida campuses, take courses that work with your schedule, and take advantage of financial aid assistance and you could soon be working in the career of your dreams!   RELATED ARTICLES : New Fall Runway Makeup Trends 2015
